I Am Number Four

by Pittacus Lore

Rated: PG

From all appearances, John Smith is an ordinary 15-year-old boy. . . oh, except his hands light up at will, he has super strength and speed and oh yes . . . he's from a different planet. Nine children and their guardians escape from Lorien just before it is destroyed by the invading forces of the Mogadorians. The Nine hide on earth, separated from each other for safety, waiting to reach the age their Legacies - their powers - will appear so they can reclaim their planet and save their race. Unfortunately, the Mogadorians are also on earth, determined that none of the Nine will survive. Thanks to a protection charm cast before they fled Lorien, the Nine can only be killed in numerical order. In the ten years since they arrived on earth, the Mogadorians have found and killed One, Two, and Three. John Smith is Number Four - and now they're after him. . . .

This is the first book in the Lorien Legacies series. The author's pseudonym, Pittacus Lore, is a character in the series. This book is rated PG because there is occasional profanity, action sequences, and a romantic interest. I have to admit that this book is not one of my favorites. I found the characters and relationships unidimensional and the writing uninspired. However, aside from the occasional profanity, the book is clean and I would feel comfortable with my teenage nephews and nieces reading it.

clean books, clean books for teens, is I Am Number Four clean, clean book reviews, books that are clean
